Miao was sleeping with his tummy exposed but opened his eyes when he heard me. He hasn't been on this chair for a while. I guess he decided to revisit sleeping on it. He fills it out now because he's fatter.
This Christmas reindeer has encroached on Miao's spot. The table was given by Quarg and Miao jumps up on it whenever he wants to peer out the window. But this Christmas season, he'll just have to share it.
is looking for a companion. Miao was at the bay window last night yowling. I went to check on him and he suddenly stopped and looked at me, as if to say, "Not you. I'm calling out to another cat...if there are any other cats out there..." I think Miao is lonely. He also stares at the front door at times and motions me to come and open it for him. I sometimes oblige and open it a crack so he could see and sniff the outside. We don't let him out, though; the street cats will just beat him to a pulp.
This was taken a few years ago, when Miao was wallowing in alcohol to forget about two precious things he lost...well, taken from him. He prefers saki. (And he hasn't forgotten.)
When Miao was young and spry, he was able to snatch a bird in flight. He held it tight in between his teeth but we bopped his head so he'd let the bird go. Our concern wasn't for the bird but for Miao; we didn't want him to get sick -- who knows where that bird's been. He also almost caught a rooster once (or was it a chicken?), which was running around our driveway. These days, the only birds Miao can hope to catch are the stuffed ones thrown at him, like this beanie baby eagle.
I see you. Miao used to be great at choosing the best hiding places, especially when he really does not want to be found; he'd be MIA the whole day then just come out to eat. But that was when he was younger and smaller. Now that he's bigger and fatter, his options are limited -- he can't fit into those nooks and crannies anymore. Here he is behind a curtain, which would be a good place to hide...if it was a cloudy day.
Miao fills his day with sleeping, eating, sleeping and more sleeping. But when he comes to, he occasionally picks up the paper to do the crossword...he answers it in his mind, of course, since he's incapable of holding a pen.
Weester said she'd be on TV this evening so Miao parked himself in front of the tube waiting for her to come on. The couch has been his spot lately, but only during primetime.
The curtain maker came to install new fabric panels in the room and, as is his S.O.P. when unknown visitors arrive, Miao went into hiding. He usually hides under my bed but since the strangers went up to my room, he had to hide somewhere else. I found him behind the couch in the living room. Here's his scared little face (I know, it's bad lighting).
He's an old cat. His age is evident in his whiskers; they're drooping now. He's a lot more whiny these days, too. But he's still adorable and he still does a lot of cute, dumb stuff.
